| Bio | I’m a Swiss-Iranian filmmaker, critic, and lecturer based in Zurich. I studied theatre in Tehran in 1995 and began my career in Iranian theatre and cinema. Inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky, I studied filmmaking at VGIK in Moscow under Vadim Abdrashitov. Returning to Iran in 2009, I taught at universities, supervised student projects, and led directing and acting workshops both domestically and abroad. I am a member of Arthaus Cinema and the Swiss Association of Film Journalists, and serve as a festival programmer for the Swiss Science Film Academy, bridging cinema and science. After jury experience in local festivals, I served internationally in Moscow, Georgia, and festivals across Canada, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Egypt, and China. Since 2014, I have been working in multimedia production at ETH Zurich. As a film critic and jury member, I have spent extensive time in screening rooms at major festivals including Cannes, Venice, Locarno, Berlinale, Visions du Réel, Zurich, and Hamburg. For me, judging films is not only artistic evaluation but also discovering new perspectives and social insights. |
