Bio FHispano-coréenne, Kim Figuerola grandit entre la Suisse et l’Espagne, et vit quelques années à New York où elle fréquente assidûment l’Anthology Film Archives. Elle est titulaire d’un Master en Histoire de l’art et d’un Bachelor en Histoire et esthétique du cinéma de l’Université de Lausanne (UNIL). À la croisée entre cinéma et art contemporain, son mémoire porte sur le cinéma expérimental, les installations d’images en mouvement, et plus spécifiquement sur les films d’art du cinéaste et plasticien britannique Steve McQueen. Il reçoit le Prix de Faculté 2023. La même année, elle est nommée corédactrice en chef de la revue de cinéma suisse Ciné-Feuilles, et ce, jusqu’à fin mai 2025. En 2023 et 2024, elle est également invitée par Ciné-Doc, en tant qu’historienne de l’art et de cinéma, à participer à une série de discussions sur l’artiste allemand Anselm Kiefer et le documentaire de Wim Wenders, Anselm : le bruit du temps. En 2025, elle est membre du jury pour le Prix de la critique au festival du film Black Movie. Kim Figuerola est actuellement journaliste cinématographique. Son champ de prédilection est le cinéma d’auteur et indépendant, suisse et transnational, artistique et engagé.

Hispano-Korean, Kim Figuerola grew up between Switzerland and Spain and spent several years in New York, where she was a regular visitor to the Anthology Film Archives. She holds a Master’s degree in Art History and a Bachelor’s degree in Film History and Aesthetics from the University of Lausanne (UNIL). At the intersection of cinema and contemporary art, her thesis focuses on experimental cinema, moving image installations, and more specifically on the art films of British filmmaker and visual artist Steve McQueen. It was awarded the 2023 Faculty Prize. That same year, she was appointed co-editor-in-chief of the Swiss film magazine Ciné-Feuilles, a position she held until end of May 2025. In 2023 and 2024, she was also invited by Ciné-Doc, as an art and cinema historian, to take part in a series of discussions on the German artist Anselm Kiefer and Wim Wenders’ documentary, Anselm. In 2025, she was a member of the Critics’ Prize jury at the Black Movie Film Festival. Kim Figuerola is currently a film journalist. Her main field of interest is auteur and independent cinema, Swiss and transnational, artistic and politically engaged.
